Copyright and Creative Commons
In the past, we have discussed Copyright and how to cite sources when we use someone else's work in any fashion - writing, pictures, music, etc. Creative Commons (CC) provides a set of licenses and tools to allow Internet users a way to use created works that are normally unavailable to us due to an "all rights reserved" copyright law.
The tools provided by CC give everyone "a simple, standardized way to keep their copyright while allowing certain uses of their work". CC is a growing digital commons that offers Internet users digital content that may be copied, distributed, edited, revised, and added to, all within the boundaries of copyright laws.
The slide show below offers an introduction/review of how to use Creative Commons.

Digital Storytelling
Today we were introduced to Digital Storytelling. The purpose of creating a digital story is to show how video clips and still images can be put together to tell a story. Please follow this link to an introductory video: An Introduction to Digital Storytelling.
You will be creating a digital story based on one of the following topics: What Freedom Means to Me, My Hero or My Bucket List. I've shared with you a link to the project requirements: Digital Storytelling Project.
This project is due at the end of the hour on Monday, April 18.

Reflect: Distracted Driving Assembly
Yesterday, everyone attended the Distracted Driving Assembly in the auditorium. I'd like for you to reflect on that experience and tell me how you were affected. What was the most effective part of the presentation? What was the least effective? Did it make you re-think your behaviors while driving? What was the one thing that really made you think? Did you sign the pledge card? Was it worth attending?
Critique: Google Docs Project
I need to hear from you!
In your comments to this post, you will be "a critic." I'd like to hear your opinion about Google Docs and the project. What were some of the things that you liked (about both)? What were things that you didn't like (about both)? Do you have any suggestions on how this project might be improved?

You will find the details here: Using Google Docs. The project should be completed by the end of the hour on Friday, April 1.

Student Technology Survey
In class today, we took time to create a Technology Survey using a Google Form. By using this Google App, we can collect data with a survey that will be transferred to a spreadsheet and then create charts and graphs.
Please take time to complete the form that we created.

Google Docs
Today, we took a look at the concept of cloud computing and used Google Docs - a Web-based service that allows us to create and edit documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and forms. With Google Docs we can share our documents with others for peer-editing and collaborate on the same document in "real-time." During class a roster was created in Google Docs that contains each student's name, email address, and personal blog URL: Class Roster H4. The best thing about Google Docs? We can access it from any computer that has an Internet connection!
Have you ever worked with Google Docs before? If so, how? Did you learn anything new today that you can see yourself using in your other classes? Please explain.
