Yesterday, everyone attended the Distracted Driving Assembly in the auditorium. I'd like for you to reflect on that experience and tell me how you were affected. What was the most effective part of the presentation? What was the least effective? Did it make you re-think your behaviors while driving? What was the one thing that really made you think? Did you sign the pledge card? Was it worth attending?

ReplyDeleteThe most effective part of the assembly was probably the videos. It seemed they were influential on everyone in the room. The least effective seemed to be the first video, though. But, that's probably because I looked at it from an editors point of view. I frequently work in broadcasting and edit videos, and I found the layout and transitions messy, and unpleasing. It did make me re-think things, and I wish I could say that for everyone, but high school seems to be a place where people look at something, then forget it. Watching the crash really made me think about things. Although it was fake, the message still stuck out. Yes, I signed the pledge card, and it was definitely worth attending.
ReplyDeleteYes, I signed the pledge card. The assembly really did affect me. It really shows and tells how you seriously need to pay attention while driving. "I will not text and drive ever!
ReplyDeleteI was not at the assembly yesterday, but from what I heard from my friends was that it was able to affect their outlook on distracted driving.
ReplyDeleteWhat had the biggest affect on me from the presentation was the second video with the three girls in the car crash. The presentation made me realize the importance of keeping full attention on the road. Yes I signed the pledge card and I think that it was a good presentation and important to have
ReplyDeleteI wasn't at the assembly yesterday, but I almost feel that I was. Through the accounts of several individuals over the videos seen and the stories told I was affected. They were deep and passionate and showed how just a little carelessness could impact your life so much. It is blatantly obvious that the assembly had an impact not only on the students and teachers who attended the assembly, but to their family and loved ones as well. If you truly loves your neighbor as much as yourself, you know what to do DON'T DRIVE DISTRACTED.
ReplyDelete~Scott
Yes, I signed the pledge. The assembly affected me because it really shows how bad you could hurt someone or even hurt your self. Its not like you have to text and drive. Like would you wont your life or text and i think thats a pretty easy answer. When i can drive i am not going to text and drive i am keeping my life out of danger.
ReplyDeleteThe assembly effected me in a possative way. When I start driving I will defanately not drive distracted. I could never imagine hurting someone by something so careless. The most effective part was the UK video and the least was the skit. When the spouces of the men killed talked it really made me think. I thought it was worth attending and I did sign the pledge card.
ReplyDeleteI was indeed effected on the presentation. it made me think about the dangers and how simple they can be. I did sign the pledge card and most likley will stick with it. when they showed the effected family is what made me feel like that could happen to me. i believe it was worth going and will denfinitly share this with my parents, brother, and sister...exspecialy my sister...
ReplyDeleteI found the assembly to be important to some but not personally to me. I am not a distracted driver. I don't text, eat, change the radio, or any other thing while driving. I find the stupid things others do while driving to be enough danger on the roads without me doing it too. So i think it was worth having the assembly if it were to stop even one person from driving distracted.
ReplyDeleteThe most impacting par of the assembly was the second video. However, i feel it was over dramatized. It may have been for good reason, but i think some parents might be mad about the disturbing portrayal of texting and driving. The last video was also impacting. To think that all it takes is a single second to look down and you have not only lost your freedom and life to jail or prison, but you have to live with taking away a loved one from an innocent person. That to me would be worse than any amount of jail time.
So i signed the pledge because i don't personally text and drive , but i know people who do and I need to commit to at least attempting to get the dangers of distracted driving off the roads.
The mosf effective part of the assembly was the video's they really showed you the consequences of texting and driving. The least effective part of the assembly was the skit. It seemed more funny than serious. It really made me re think texting and driving because You could severely injure your self. Thats what i really thought about. I signed the pledge card not to text and drive. The assembly was worth it because i learned about the dangers of texting and driving.
ReplyDeleteThe most effictive part of the presentaion was the second very graphic video. I think the school made a smart choice by showing us the graphic video because it really helped us undersatnd what can really happen. I think the least effective part of the presentaion was the play they did. It just made everyone think of the situation comically because of the glittery cars and inexperienced acting.
ReplyDeleteThis experience might of changed my behaviors about driving. I did not plan on texting anyway in the first place. One thing that really made me think about this was my boyfriend who was sitting next to me. He usually makes fun of this kinda thing and talks the entire time but he was actually watching and looked like he really understood and cared. And that made me feel really good and believe the videos we watched changed us.
Yes, I did sign the pledge card. To be completely honest though I didn't read it. I knew it was for not texting and driving so I signed it without reading. I think the entire seminar was worth attending because it seemed to change the mind of many Bedford High School students.
Yes, I signed the pledge card. The assembly really did affect me. Something so small as texting can cause huge results. It really shows how you seriously need to pay attention while driving.
ReplyDeleteI know once I finish driver's ed, and I drive, I will not drive distracted. I learned the consquences of your actions. No text message is worth that.
The presentation was very impacting; I thought it was a good thing for new drives to see. This impacted me that when I was in the car with my mom she was talking on the phone I demanded for her to get off. I told her that she was a distracted driver and needed to think about the other people that are in the car with her. Such as my sister and me, my mom is a really responsible person but at times doesn’t use her head. One thing I can say about her is that she has never texted a drove she has also never drank and drive. I at the end of the video was asked to pledge my signature to say that I would never text and drive and to warn people about the dangers and try to help them steer away from the situation.
ReplyDeleteThe most effective part of the assembly was the 3nd video I think, it really shows how one little thing like texting or changing the radio or just talking to your friends can turn into something so big, like killing someone or yourself. The least effective part I think was the presentation by the drama club, it was a good idea and they did well, it just wasn’t life like enough. Yes, it definitely made me re-think my behaviors while driver. I’m just in drivers ed right now, but when I get my license I definitely will not text and drive. The thing that made me think the most was who else you were affecting, when you drive distracted you don’t just effect yourself, you affect the people around you too. Yes, I signed the pledge card, and I will follow through with the pledge. Yes, it definitely was worth attending, it made me think a lot differently. The worst part was I don’t think some people were very mature about it; some people were making jokes and laughing about it when it’s not funny at all. But overall I’m very glad I attended the assembly.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't very effected by the presentation, because I already believe that texting can wait for an hour or even a day. The video where more than one life was lost because of distracted driving effected me the most. I signed the pledge card, I think the card pushed me to not drive distracted even more. The presentation wasn't so worth attending for me, but I think it may be worth attending for others, and I am glad the school did it.
ReplyDeleteThe distracted driver assembly really affected the way i look at driving. I see it now as a responsibility instead of a privelage. The most effective part was when the second video showed the baby that died. The after effects shocked me and it showed that a fatal car accident scars a lot of people physically and emotionally. The least effective part was the skit because it was hard to take the scene seriously when the cars were glittery.
ReplyDeleteIt made me re-think about the carelessness that people have while driving. Your car is deadly whether you realize it or not. One thing that really made me think was the third video of the true life story. The families were devastated and they did not know who to blame. The kid that was sent to jail didn't mean to kill those two men but wasn't visually watching the road which lead to consequences. Yes, I signed the pledge card because I don't think it is safe for anyone to text and drive even if you think you can handle it. The assembly was deffinately worth attending. It was really informative.
No i didn't sign the pledge card because i know that i am going to text and drive when i'm older and the most effective part was when the baby died. the least effective part for me was when the other students were acting out a scene. It made me re-think about for a little while and then i forgot about it. The part that really made me think was when they showed the dead baby and i don't think it was worth attending because all of us already know what could happen while we're driving and texting at the same time, but we still do it anyways.
ReplyDeleteThe first video about the girls driving really affected me. The way they showed everything that happened to them inside the car. I never realized how bad you get pushed around in a car accident. The least affective thing was the skit. The people that did it were really good, but for me it just wasn't that believeable. The whole assembly made me rethink driving. Everything they talked about and showed made me think about how things you think are harmless could hurt someone. The last video about the guy that was texting and killed two people really made me think. Kids our age don't really think about how one little thing you do could affect someone's life in a really dramatic way. Yes I signed the pledge. One of the women in the video said that driving is a priviledge and not a right. That is so true and no one thinks of it as that. It was defiantly worth attending. It made me realize the dangers and how something as little as looking down for a few seconds can cost someone their life.
ReplyDeleteThe way I was affected in way that i will never text and drive ever. The movie where the girls got in the car crash, and then the little girl was wondering why her parents weren't waking up. I almost cried during that part. I don't think that there wasn't a part of the presentation that wasn't affective. Yes, I will re-think about my behaviors while driving. The part that made me really think was when they showed the part where Reggie went to jail because he was texting and driving. Yes I did sigh the pledge card. I think that i was worth attending.
ReplyDeleteThis essembly effected me alot because i was getting so excited to get my drivers license but now i am kinda scared to get it because i saw the consequencses. I also saw how many people die and who you leave behind and its scary because that could be you one day.
ReplyDeleteThe most effective part was the second video it had graphics and you could here everything that happened. The least effective part was when the students put on the play. I know i will be reminding my family and relitives not to text or talk on the phone. I know i wont for sure. I will not drive distracted.
I like the presentation i think it was needed, it helped alot. it told me to becarful when i start driving, and jukst to be carefull when im texting,th second video wass the best it helped alot, it was scary but it still helped everyone there. when they were talking it started to get boring, like people stoped paying attention, but it was all worth it, i did sign the pegde kinda just because i want the t shirt, but it still helped me. and im happy they had it, it took us out of class
ReplyDeleteThe assembly that everyone attended yesterday about Distracted Driving I think was very interesting and informational. Personally, I do not drive distracted though. I don't eat food, text, talk on the phone, or pay attention to many things outside the vehicle. It is hard enough to focus on the road and other drivers already.
ReplyDeleteTo me, the most important part of the presentation was the punishment for driving distracted. I think that when people hear and know the punishment for crimes that they could easily avoid, they think about it. I think knowing that you could serve up to 15 years in prison plus fines would scare most people into not driving distracted.
I think that the least important part of the presentation was when Mr. Stalker told us all the sponsors. I think that a slide show could have gone on with their logos before and after the presentation. The list just went on and on and bored me.
The presentation about distracted driving did not make me re-think my behaviors while driving, because I do not drive distracted.
One thing that me think was when the little girl said "Daddy, wake up!" The truth was that, the Dad was dead and wouldn't wake up. This hit me, because I'd never want to take away some childs parents.
Yes, I did sign the pledge.
Overall, I think that the Distracted Driving Presentation was definitely worth attending
I always knew that it was dangerous to text and drive, but I didn’t know how bad it really was. The presentation really opened my eyes to what could actually happen if you, or someone else, text and drive.
ReplyDeleteI thought that the most effective part of the presentation was the dramatization of the girls in the car who weren’t paying attention to the road and got into a crash. It showed exactly what could happen to you, and others, if you don’t pay attention to the road.
For me, the least effective part of the presentation was the skit put on by people from our school. They didn’t seem to take it seriously and some audience members were talking during it and as a result I was unable to really grasp the concept of it.
One thing that really made me think extra about texting and driving was the clip about the teenager who was in jail because he accidentally struck another car on the highway because he was texting and not paying attention to his surroundings. It really showed some of the negative consequences that can occur if you harm another person because you were texting, and not focusing on your driving.
I signed the pledge card because I am now absolutely terrified to even be tempted to become distracted while driving…it’s hard enough without distractions! I definitely think the assembly was worth attending.
The most effective part of the presentation yesterday was definitely the videos. The videos helped portray what happens in a car accident. They helped make me think what could happen to me and other people that I care for. The most ineffective part of the presentation was the skit. It wasn't as effective as the videos or the power point by far. The assembly did make me re-think what I do in a car even when I'm not driving. It makes me re-think to have someone else change the radio station or someone else text whoever is trying to talk to me.
ReplyDeleteI did sign the pledge because I felt that even if I was the only person who stuck to what they said they would do I could make that much of a difference. By sticking to the pledge and what it entails I could save a few lives. By signing the pledge it really made me think about how many people wouldn't stick to the pledge, how many lives they could effect by making one bad choice.
It was worth while to go and watch the presentation. It made me re-think about everything I see people do while driving and what I do while driving.
The UK Commercial was the most effective in my opinion. It seemed so real and it was very graphic which really scared me. I'm always driving in my car and I admit that I can get distracted sometimes, and this video made me never want to even touch my phone again. I was really upset when the little girl was yelling for her parents to wake up because it was only over a useless text message. Texting is not worth losing your life.
ReplyDeleteI was really affected by the presentation. Some parts I couldn't watch because I've been in a situation like the UK Dramatization and it brought back all the scary sounds. You never forget that kind of stuff if you go through it. What was bad is the kid who hit us was texting. I think a texting while driving law should be enforced in every state. Right now there is like 30 states but that’s not all 50 yet. I cringe when I see people texting and driving.
ReplyDeleteThe least affective was the skit. I thought it was kind of pointless and dumb actually. I thought of the accident I was in when I saw the UK Dramatization. It scared me a lot because it brought back all the scary sounds and sights. I defiantly signed the pledge and I know I will never ever text and drive.
